and when i looked at president obama's appointment to the supreme court, he has had to appointments, both women and one of them was hispanic. this is a brilliant move for a man that means that coalition to get reelected. so i wanted to just get your response. they can go back to him and if he gets reelected you all know they are going to protect. the voting rights act what is your response to that? >> no guarantee. and yes, barack obama has had a lot of money, too. i'm not trying to go past that, but i'd say the obama campaign has a tremendous amount of money. when you look at the superpacs come it is very clear the republicans have dominated. restore our future has spent $87 million this cycle. a part of that was beating out newt gingrich -- or rick perry, or whoever was the flavor of the week of the republican primary. but $87 million. and crossroads, 30 million overall. and after that, club for growth. this is massive amounts of money in this cycle. so i just think it is what it is. it's the reality we are dealing with why we are here today to talk about it and it's a very difficult thing for campaigns to deal with. >> some of that is important and looking at the practical matter of this campaign, the president -- president obama's campaign is spending significantly governor promised campaign on television. but you're right, with the outside groups, if you aggregate the president and groups on the left and governor romney and groups on the ri

if you elect obama. i happen to believe that star and that's why i'm not for reelection president obama but is not a very inspiring forward-looking spoken about what mid-romney will do. it's hard to blame the guy who wants to get reelected with a pretty narrow cast, casting approach to democratic and independent constituencies to try to scare them about ron is just bush, there is a war on women and all that but i don't go get the kind of frame you would like. i'm a little is pessimistic. i do think reality matters, as we've been saying. we are going to hit the cliff in all kinds of ways. be any fiscal cliff in the real clip in 2013 is you can't sustain these deficits obviously for too long because they can't keep printing money and expect the world to take it or buy treasury notes forever. the economy is slow and they will be coming into another dip. they are foreign policy challenges i think the next president will have a moment between november 7, i agree just to begin november 7, on january 20. and i

some of them are hedge fund givers, big supporters of obama in 2008, but they have soured on obama and switched teams. some come from industries that have significant government interests, oil, gas, and coal are one of them. futures received money from payday lenders concerned about the consumer financial protection bureau regular lating them and hoping for a romney win to ease some of that. on the democratic side, there just isn't that collection of people right now. now, it doesn't mean that at no point in the future will there be a large amount of very wealthy liberals because they are out there, who pony up money, but the miscycle is uneven. the saving grace of the president is that he is, as he proved in 2008, uniquely able to raise enormous amounts of money in very small amounts in political terms from enormous amounts of people. we're up to 3 million donors for his campaign. just to give an idea how it differs from what romney's been raising, this is -- this is through reports that came out, primary fundraising through the end of august, president obama raised $147 million or 34
